Weekend Getaway – First Monday Trade Days in Canton Texas

The Thursday before the first Monday of the month is is the start of the Historic first Monday Trade Days in Canton Texas. This is a large open air and indoor fleemarket. this is a great thing to do with your wife or girlfriend.

If she is into antiques and crafts, she will definitely be on overload at this market. If you can think of it, they probably have it. We have found that the best thing is to start at one end and work afar as possible to the other end. We have not made it all the way through all of the vendors.

Guys, if you are not interested in the various antiques and crafts don’t worry. there is still plenty for you to do. They have an area with Dogs, goats Pigs, and all types of livestock. there are several vendors selling sporting goods, tools and various things we would want in out shop or garage. They have another area with antique farm implements.

Now I have to say this also, they do have some areas for items that I would have a hard time classifying as anything but “junk”. We are talking about Sanford and Sons heaven.

Lodging wise, you will find everything from Bed and Breakfasts to Motels to campgrounds and RV parks. My only advise is to plan ahead and use one of the travel booking services to book your room. you should be able to find something to your likeing and budget.

There are several food vendors on site serving pretty good fare as well as an abundance of local cafe’s.

Canton is located just off of interstate 20 near State highway 19 in east southeast of Dallas.
