Continental – United Alliance – What will it all mean?
It was announced yesterday that Continental Airlines and United airlines would enter into an agreement as alliance partners. What will this mean to the passengers for each airline.
As a frequent flier, I travel weekly and work with people that travel weekly. I do not remember hearing any good stories about travel on United. I am sure there are some, it is just that most are really negative.
I have flown United only a handful of times and was not overly impressed with the service but, that was many years ago. It does seem that their customer satisfaction surveys are pretty low though compared to the other Major legacy carriers. For United customers this may make an improvement
For continental customers that have never flown United, they may be in for a shock. Hopefully continental service will not plummet to the level of United. Of course even those Continental customers that do not fly United will be affected as they fly to more destinations where United has a big presence. The will have United Baggage Handlers and contractors.
There is a bright spot for Continental customers. They will have access to other new partners in the Star Alliance system such as Singapore Airlines. maybe it will be easier to redeem frequent flier miles
As the saying goes, “Life is about the journey……unless you are flying by airline”
